Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans on CBS drew a much larger average audience than the one that watched the NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Los Molinos basketball suffers double loss to Redding Christian

LOS MOLINOS— The Los Molinos boys and girls basketball teams lost to Redding Christian Friday night. The boys basketball game came down to the final seconds, but in the end, the Bulldogs fell to the Lions 45-41. The first quarter would turn out to be a low scoring affair. The Bulldogs only put five points on the board due to a free throw by Devin Henderson and four points from Ty Isaksen. The Lions, on the other hand, scored nine points in the quarter. Henderson was fouled to start the second quarter and made both free throws. He made a huge 3-pointer with 5 minutes left in the half to tie the game 10-10. The Lions responded by scoring seven points to the Bulldogs’ four to go up 17-14 at half time. In the third quarter the lead went back and forth. The scales began tipping towards Redding Christian around the 3:40 mark when the Lions went up 32-26. Through the efforts of Clay Ames, Isaksen and Dylan Rocha, who scored a combined 17 points, the Bulldogs managed to close the quarter down 36-31. Hiram…

Super Bowl: 49ers won’t be wearing throwback uniforms against Chiefs

Despite a push by Richard Sherman to wear throwback uniforms in Super Bowl LIV, the 49ers will go with their traditional look when they take on the Chiefs in Miami on Feb. 2. As the designated visiting team, the 49ers will wear their usual road garb consisting of white jerseys and gold pants, the team said Monday morning. NBC Sports Bay Area first reported the team’s uniform plans. Sherman told The Athletic following the 49ers’ 37-20 rout of the Packers in the NFC Championship Sunday he and some teammates were pushing to convince the NFL to allow them to wear their all-white 1994 throwback uniforms in the Super Bowl. There were no indications whether the 49ers’ request to wear the alternate uniforms was denied or even formally submitted. San Francisco wore the all-white throwback uniforms in its Week 17 win in Seattle that clinched the NFC West title and the conference’s top seed. 49ers fans who may be into omens, the team has twice worn the white jersey/gold pant combination during Super Bowls — and San Francisco has won both. The 49ers beat the Bengals…

Super Bowl LIV prop bets: National anthem length, game MVP, where’s Mostert?

The Super Bowl isn’t just the biggest game of the year for players, coaches and fans. It’s a huge day for bettors, too. Beyond the simple bets against the spread, point total and money lines, there’s a whole slew of prop bets that invariably find an audience even outside of the gambling community, and seemingly every year there’s something new. Online gambling platform Bovada has released its game-based bets and its prop bets for the Super Bowl. Here are a few of the noteworthy ones: Who will score the game’s first touchdown? Somehow Raheem Mostert, who has scored four touchdowns in the last 24 hours, does not have odds listed currently as the first player from either team to reach the end zone. That may be a mistake on the part of Bovada makes him part of the field, which has 7-to-1 odds. There are some good-looking odds for 49ers receivers to record the game’s first touchdown: Kendrick Bourne (+1600), Deebo Samuel (+1000) and Emmanuel Sanders (+1000). On the bet for the first touchdown by the 49ers specifically, Mostert sits at +300, and his odds…

Six months to go for Hemet’s Florida Avenue median project

Here’s the good news about the controversial construction of a concrete median down parts of Hemet’s Florida Avenue: It’s about halfway over. The $13.1 million project, which began in July, shuts down one of the two lanes of State Route 74 — known as Florida Avenue in Hemet — between Acacia Avenue and the Ramona Expressway from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Officially known as the “State Route 74 (SR-74)  Raised Curb Median Safety Project,” the project is expected to be finished in June, weather permitting, according to Caltrans spokeswoman Joy Schneider. Californian credit scores take nation’s second-largest jump

The average Californian’s credit score may be middle-of-the-pack nationally, but only one state had a bigger improvement as the economy rebounded during the last seven years. Credit watcher Experian’s annual report on national trends in “FICO” credit scores showed that last year’s California average of 708 was up two points in a year. That ranked 27th among the states. Credit scores reflect bill-paying abilities and are an important factor in how consumers obtain loans and what interest rates are charged. The national average FICO score rose as well to a record high of 703 in 2019. That’s up from 701 in 2018. A 700 score is a critical credit quality yardstick for lenders and 59% of Americans hit or exceeded this lofty level of creditworthiness last year — a record high share. At the state level, 2019’s highest scores were found in Minnesota at 733, its eighth-consecutive year leading the nation. Next best was North Dakota and South Dakota at 727. Worst? Mississippi and Louisiana at 677 then Texas and Alabama at 680. Things have certainly changed for the better for personal finances since 2012,…

San Diego Humane Society looking for homes for more than 40 rats

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – It’s the Year of the Rat and the San Diego Humane Society still has more than 40 of the critters across its three campuses waiting for adoption, it announced Monday. In October 2019, a woman called the Humane Society and said her pet rat population was out of control. She gave up more than 300 rats, and as many were pregnant, the Humane Society soon found itself with more than 600. Officials say the vast majority have been adopted, but there are still dozens of pet rats waiting for homes at the society’s San Diego, Oceanside and Escondido campuses. The society said rats make excellent pets as they are social, intelligent and affectionate with humans. Domesticated rats are physically and psychologically different from their wild counterparts. Rats eat pellets, vegetables and fruit, and stay clean by grooming themselves like a cat several times a day. The San Diego Humane Society is offering a “Year of the Rat” special adoption fee of $5 for a pair. As rats are social animals, the society requires they be adopted in same-sex pairs unless they…
