Santa Ana winds to bring extreme fire danger to Southern California
A strong Santa Ana wind event will bring extreme fire danger to Southern California this week. “A fire weather warning is pretty much in effect for all of us, especially as you’re up against the foothill areas,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlos said Monday. The warning includes areas of Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties and will be in place until 6 p.m. Wednesday. (National Weather Service) The National Weather Service is predicting the most dangerous conditions occurring between 10 p.m. Monday and 2 p.m. Tuesday with wind gusts up to 50 to 80 mph. Officials warned of downed trees and power outages as well as hazardous crosswinds making for dangerous driving conditions. Humidities will drop to between 5 and 15% increasing the chance for rapid fire growth. “Toward the end of the week, we will start to see an area of low pressure to the north.
