Tina Turner, Julia Child among the newest inductees into the California Hall of Fame
The 18th Class of the California Hall of Fame was announced Thursday, and their induction will itself be a history-making moment — the first time that an inductee group is made up of only women. The announcement was made by the governor’s office and the California Museum, where the Hall of Fame is based and where the induction ceremonies take place. New laws going into effect in California in 2025 The newest class is also comprised of all posthumous inductees, similar to other classes inducted during the early years of the pandemic. The seven women who comprise the newest Class are: • Julia Child: Cook, author, television personality• Ina Donna Coolbrith: California’s first poet laureate• Vicki Manalo Draves: Olympic gold medalist• Mitsuye Endo: Civil rights activist• Dian Fossey: Primatologist, gorilla conservationist• Alice Piper: Civil rights hero• Tina Turner: Singer, performer “These trailblazing women have shattered barriers, challenged societal norms, and driven progress that has transformed California and the world.
