Cash App settlement: Deadline to submit claim for up to $2,500 nears

(NEXSTAR) — If you’ve used Cash App since 2018, you have only about a week to claim your part of a $15 million settlement reached in a class action lawsuit. Block Inc., which owns Cash App, and Cash App Investing were accused of negligence and breaching obligations they had to users in 2022 when a former employee accessed account data without permission. Block said in a 2022 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it was notifying roughly 8.2 million current and former users about the incident. According to the lawsuit, Block was negligent again in 2023 when “an unauthorized user” gained access to some Cash App accounts while using recycled phone numbers linked to those accounts. IRS unveils 2025 income tax brackets: Where do you fall? Block and Cash App Investing were also accused of failing to take the necessary steps to protect accounts after both incidents and did not “adequately resolve customer complaints regarding unauthorized or fraudulent transactions.” While Block and Cash App Investing denied liability and wrongdoing, they agreed earlier this year to the $15 million settlement. How did Bronny James do in his G League debut?

The most highly anticipated debut in the history of the G League, the NBA’s developmental “minor” league, happened on Saturday night and the results are encouraging to teammates. LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., the son of the legendary all-time leading scorer of the NBA, suited up for the South Bay Lakers for the first time on Saturday with his dad and Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis and head coach JJ Redick in attendance. James’ statline, perhaps underwhelming, was still encouraging for the 18-year-old. In 31 minutes of action, James scored 6 points on 2-for-9 shooting from the field. He was also 0-for-4 from three with four assists. Chevrolet’s 2025 Equinox EV offers outstanding range and affordability

Electric vehicle advocates were dismayed when General Motors suspended production of Chevrolet’s popular Bolt models, but the 2025 Equinox has many of the same admirable qualities, and EV consumers have responded accordingly. When paired with the $7,500 federal tax credit, the base front-wheel-drive model delivers 319 miles of driving range for under $30,000. The winning combination of range and affordability is truly extraordinary for a fully electric crossover of this caliber, and Chevy’s Equinox has now overtaken Cadillac’s Lyriq as GM’s top-selling EV. The 2025 Equinox EV comes in two trim packages, the standard LT that starts at $33,600 and the heavily upgraded RS that costs about $10,000 more. Both are available with dual-motor all-wheel-drive for an upcharge of $3,300. The additional motor driving the rear wheels increases horsepower from 220 to 300 but only causes a small worsening of efficiency. All Equinox EV models utilize the same 85.0 kWh battery pack, so variations in driving range are closely aligned with their electric fuel economy. The latest official figures for MPGe and driving range are available on the window stickers of newly arriving 2025 models.

Live 49ers updates: Niners face Bucs after bye week

The 49ers are visiting Tampa Bay on Sunday to open the second half of their season. It’ll also be the opening game of Christian McCaffrey’s season as he was activated from injured reserve Saturday after missing the first eight games with Achilles tendinitis in both legs. Despite the bye week, the 49ers listed a number of noteworthy players as questionable: wide receivers Deebo Samuel (oblique, rib) and Jauan Jennings (hip), defensive end Nick Bosa (hip) and safety Malik Mustapha (calf). All four of those players are active Sunday. Bosa made news on Saturday when he was fined for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat as he crashed teammates’ postgame interviews two weekends ago. NFL rules prohibit wearing clothing on the field that supports political causes. Mustapha’s status incentivized the 49ers to promote former starting safety Tashaun Gipson from the practice squad after he re-signed with the team this week. The Niners face a Buccaneers attack that has been prolific in the passing game (253.4 yards per game, sixth in NFL) but will be missing two of Baker Mayfield’s top targets as Chris Godwin (dislocated

2025 Genesis G80 a superior outlier sedan

Nearing the end of its first decade, the Genesis G80 remains among the South Korean manufacturer’s most unheralded vehicles. The mid-sized luxury sedan matches its rivals from Audi, BWW and Mercedes-Benz, but its brand recognition is abysmal and its annual sales are low. But it shouldn’t be so. Genesis makes nine vehicles, including four sedans. Its tenure began in 2016 with the same scenario as Lexus emerging from Toyota and Acura as the top-end division of Honda. The Genesis emergence had one caveat. It was once the top-ending offering of Hyundai, its former immediate automotive family and thus a confusing name. Genesis doesn’t do itself any justice with its vehicles’ simple names; with choice of G80 perhaps even a detriment to sales. Fewer than 5,000 of the top-line sedans sold in 2023, with its tally tumbling prompting Genesis to revise the 2025 models. Part of the vehicle’s second generation introduced in 2021, the new G80 has a refreshed interior and exterior, a new 27-inch infotainment screen and several updated driver assist features. The 2025 G80 is available with two engine configurations. The base engine is

Dodgers fans take 6-mile World Series ‘victory lap’

What better way to celebrate a world championship than by getting your steps in on a Sunday morning? That’s what a group of Los Angeles Dodgers fans are doing Sunday, as a hiking group is taking a “victory lap” around the Griffith Park Hiking Trails. The Dodgers Blue Hiking Crew takes fans of the Boys in Blue on hikes throughout the baseball season, including a massive Opening Day event they did in March. The Dodgers Blue Hiking Club celebrates the Boys in Blue by taking 6.5 mile hikes around Griffith Park. (Dodgers Blue Hiking Club) Thousands upon thousands of Dodgers fans gathered in downtown L.A. for the team’s official parade on Nov. 1, but those who didn’t get enough on that day congregated at Griffith Park to take on a 6.5-mile hike, decked out in that Dodgers blue. The plan was to take the following trails on a four-hour long hike: Fern Canyon Trail, Upper Beacon Trail, Hogback Trail, Bill Eckert Trail and Mineral Wells Trail. “I’m very excited,” one fan told KTLA’s Jennifer McGraw. “I’m eager and ready to get this hike on and

Angelenos voice strong opinions for, against Dodger Stadium gondola

Local residents descended upon Union Station Saturday to voice their support for – and opposition to – the Dodger Stadium gondola.  Demonstrators were seen holding signs that read “Build the gondola” and “Stop the gondola” directly next to each other and chanting in favor of their side.  Supporters of the project say that the need to prevent “Carmageddon” and heavy traffic backups from Dodger fans coming and going from the stadium is paramount.  “As many ways as we can get cars off the road, the better it is for the community and for the parks,” said Damian Kevitt, a member of Streets Are For Everyone and an advocate for the gondola.  Altercation leads to 2 men being shot at popular West Covina sports bar Other supporters state that the traffic is just too much for their neighborhoods, and it’s not just due to Dodgers games.  “The gondola will not only get cars off the road, but it will also help reduce traffic impacts from the L.A. State Historic Park when they host concerts and other major events,” said Inez Gomez, a resident of Chinatown.

November 10, 2024 / 11:59 AM EST / CBS News The following is a transcript of an interview with Rep. Ro Khanna, Democrat of California, on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” that aired on Nov. 10, 2024. MARGARET BRENNAN: We’re joined now by Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna. He’s in California this morning. Good morning to you. This was a rough week for Democrats. I don’t have to tell you that, but Congressman, I mean, just to level with the American people, Democrats and the Harris campaign told them that the fate of democracy itself was at stake. Was that a cynical political tactic, or, if it’s reality, what is the plan now? REP. RO KHANNA: Well, Margaret, I think what was at stake is the degradation of American democracy, the coarseness of political discourse, the idea that you have people who are undocumented, 12 million, who may be subject to a violation of their rights. The issues about climate and the reversal on that. I’ve never said that you weren’t going to have future elections, and I was never one of these people who

MARGARET BRENNAN: And we turn now to Tennessee Republican Senator Bill Hagerty, who also served as US Ambassador to Japan– SEN. BILL HAGERTY: –Yes Margaret MARGARET BRENNAN: During the first Trump administration. It’s good to have you here.  SEN. HAGERTY: It’s good to be with you.  MARGARET BRENNAN: So, Donald Trump has this sweeping mandate, as do Republicans. Do you see this as an unrestrained presidency?  SEN. HAGERTY: I think this is a presidency that has a mandate like we haven’t seen, as you mentioned, in 36 years. The American public has spoken loud and clear. And I think if you go back to your interview with Bob, there are a number of places where Washington has been out of touch with the American people. You mentioned Ukraine, I think that’s a great example. The American people want sovereignty protected here in America before we spend our funds and resources protecting the sovereignty of another nation. You

Judge Denies Jolie’s Bid to Dismiss 3 of Pitt’s Winery Suit Claims

Brad Pitt’s most recently amended lawsuit against former wife Angelina Jolie, in which he claims she wrongfully sold her shares in the business to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler without his consent, will proceed with three of the allegations the actress sought to have dismissed, a judge has ruled. Jolie’s lawyers had maintained Pitt’s allegations for breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, tortious interference with contractual relations and tortious interference with prospective business relations had been unsuccessful four previous times in properly pleading those causes of action. “At best, this is a case about the breach of an unspoken, unwritten contract implied from the facts and circumstances of two parties’ relationship,” Jolie’s attorneys stated in their court papers. But on Friday, Judge Lia Martin, having taken Jolie’s motion under submission, overruled the actress’ request and told her to file an answer within 30 days. Chateau Miraval is the 1,300-acre country estate in Provence, France the former couple bought in 2008 and where they married in 2014. In his most updated suit filed in June, Pitt, 60, contends that by 2016 he

2024 Election: A look at notable results around the Inland Empire

You won’t be surprised to hear that Donald Trump beat Kamala Harris in the Inland Empire. But Harris performed better here than you might have predicted. In Riverside County, Harris had 48% of the vote as of Friday morning. In San Bernardino County, she had 46%. Sure, she lost, but in Kern County, she polled only 38%. More predictable is how Steve Garvey fared versus Adam Schiff. If Garvey were representing the IE instead of the entire state, he’d be the new senator, and by a comfortable margin: He got 54% in San Bernardino County and 52% in Riverside County. Schiff won the state with 57%. Now that’s the IE we know and love (or shake our head at). Welcome to my post-election roundup. The above aside, the idea is to offer a few thoughts on local outcomes or trends, some of which might pass with little notice otherwise. For starters, out in Needles, voters have — OK, just kidding. Let’s stick a bit closer to home. And we’ll begin with an unusual one. In Menifee, the District 3 race’s ballot had a rarity, an
