Malibu’s Franklin fire triggers evacuations, spreads rapidly; Pepperdine students shelter in place
A fast-moving wildfire was spreading rapidly early Tuesday in Malibu, spurring nearby Pepperdine University to issue a campus-wide shelter-in-place order as firefighters struggled to battle the blaze. Dubbed the Franklin fire, the fire was reported just before 11 p.m. along Malibu Canyon Road and north of Francisco Ranch Road in the hills north of Pepperdine.
