CVUSD Superintendent Resigning

The search for a new superintendent for Coachella Valley Unified School District is underway. Dr. Luis Valentino announced his resignation this week. Dr. Valentino beamce CVUSD’s Superintendent in 2021, and was contracted through 2025. However, his last day will be June 30th. Board members accepted Dr. Valentino’s resignation after conducting a procedural vote. No reason for his early departure was given.

CSUSB Palm Desert College Core Program Helps Students Pay For College Through Volunteer Work

This year marks the second academic year that Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert campus offers their College Core program to students. The select few students that get accepted into the program will complete 450 hours in one academic year, while receiving up to $10,000 in scholarship money. “College core is essentially a fellowship program that has college students from participating institutions to do community service in three different areas, and these three different areas involve climate change, k through 12 education, and food insecurity.” Elias Hernandez, the Program Coordinator for CSUSB Palm Desert’s College Core Program says. Now, CSUSB Palm Desert specifically focuses on K through 12 education. The opportunity is available for all students, including AB-540 students, the only requirement is that those applying have to have one full academic year ahead of them, in order to apply. “I have seen students build really great connections, and it has catapulted them to like their career, especially when it comes to senior year. ” Hernandez says.  The scholarship funds are split into two sections, a $7,000 living allowance and a $3,000 education award. Oscar’s Vandalized For The Second Time in Six Months

Popular Palm Spring entertainment destination Oscar’s was hit this past weekend, for the second time in the last six months.  Early Monday morning, the owner of the business walked into what looked like thrown tile all over the courtyard. Something similar to what had happened to the business in November of last year. After that initial incident, the business added a number of cameras into and around the building, not thinking this type of incident would happen again. Just four months later, Dan Gore, the owner of Oscar’s found an almost identical scene. Tile all over the courtyard and on the pergola, leaving chipped remaining’s of tile, everywhere. After asking around to other business owners, Gore was able to secure camera footage discovering what he says is five individuals walking on top of nearby restaurant, Farm. Gore adds, reaching the roof of Oscar’s is not a straight path and believes the suspected individuals had been to the rooftop of the business before. Nearby witnesses tell us, they heard the incident happen, early Monday morning around 1 a.m., and reported it to the Palm Springs Police

Coachella Festival Organizers Demand Removal Of New I-10 Billboard

Catch More Than Vibes? That’s what Coachella and Stagecoach festival goers will see plastered on a billboard heading West on I-10. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) put up the billboard last Tuesday. Its purpose is to advertise their free sexually transmitted disease testing services during all three festival weekends. Almost immediately after the billboard was put up, the organization says festival officials demanded for the immediate removal of the advertisement.  AHF says they have no plans in doing so anytime soon.

Arc 14th Charity Golf Classic Fundraiser

Today Desert Arc held it’s 14th Annual Charity Golf Classic Fundraiser. Desert Arc’s Mission is to help enhance the quality of life and create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With this event, the 501 C 3 raised funds to help support its programs and clients.
