A three-vehicle crash in the High Desert claimed one life on Halloween, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.  According to an SBSD media bulletin, deputies responded to the intersection of U.S. Highway 395 and Auburn Avenue in Adelanto on Thursday at 1:38 p.m. on reports of a multi-car collision.  Two of the vehicles involved – a white Chevrolet Blazer and a blue Volkswagen Golf – were found to have been involved in a separate collision that caused the Blazer to collide with head-on a semi-truck.  “Through the investigation, deputies learned the driver of a white Chevrolet Blazer merged into the southbound lanes of Highway 395, sideswiping a blue Volkswagen Golf who was traveling southbound,” SBSD stated. “Both vehicles crossed into the northbound lanes…the Blazer then collided head-on with a semi-truck.”  Suspect in custody after LAPD officers shot during robbery in South Los Angeles The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has been taken into custody following a shooting that left two police officers injured in South L.A., according to authorities. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responded to reports of a robbery near 92nd Street and Central Avenue just after 9 p.m. Friday. When law enforcement arrived on the scene and encountered a suspect, an officer-involved shooting took place. Police did not disclose what specifically led to the shooting. Sky5 was overhead at 10 p.m. and reported seeing ambulances called for two officers. LAPD said one officer was transported for a possible gunshot wound somewhere on the right side of their body. The second officer was transported for a possible gunshot wound or graze wound to the hand. KTLA’s Gil Leyvas reported seeing the officer with the hand wound taken out on his own power, and the other officer was taken out on a gurney – but both officers were conscious and speaking to paramedics. Within a year and a half, Adeoye said she was addicted to the drink, “Feel Free Classic,” lured by what she calls the company’s deceptive marketing tactics. The 29-year-old account manager based in Austin, Texas, said her favorite podcasters promoted the drink, which the company Botanic Tonics manufactures and sells, as “a miracle” beverage that could help people trying to overcome addiction and embrace sobriety. Having struggled with binge drinking in the past, Adeoye was intrigued. As a devoted Republican who runs a cattle ranch and proudly talks about owning a gun, Shasta County Supervisor Mary Rickert is an unlikely progressive icon. But that is exactly what the 72-year-old devout Catholic and grandmother has become to some in this northern California county — which has been convulsed by conspiracy theories about voter fraud and other extremist ideologies over the last three years. In the final weeks before the Nov. 5 election, a measure that would double the county’s quarter-percent homeless sales tax was closing in on the majority it needs to pass, a new poll of likely Los Angeles County voters found. Half of those surveyed said they would vote for Measure A, or already had done so, in the poll taken by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and co-sponsored by The Times. That was a gain of one percentage point over the previous IGS poll in September and three percentage points above its August poll. Thirty-four percent said they would vote no, or already had, up from 33% in September but down from 36% in August.
