Kamala Harris to appear on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,’ ‘Call Her Daddy’ and ‘Howard Stern’

As she heads into the final stretch of the presidential campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris will make a flurry of media appearances this week. On Tuesday, she will visit “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” marking her first late-night appearance since President Biden dropped out of the race and she secured the Democratic nomination. It will be her seventh overall visit to “The Late Show” and is one of many interviews she will be giving this week in both traditional and more unconventional forums. Harris also recently sat down with the hugely popular podcaster Alex Cooper for an episode of “Call Her Daddy,” which is expected to be released Sunday. Topics of the conversation are said to include reproductive rights and other issues important to women voters, according to the Washington Post. The show has gained a vast following, particularly with young women drawn to Cooper’s take on sex, dating and relationships, but it also tackles current events and features interviews with people in the news. On Monday, Harris will also appear on “60 Minutes,” broadcast TV’s most-watched news program, along with her running mate

4.0 earthquake that rattled SoCal was strongest in series of modest Ontario temblors

A magnitude 4 earthquake rattled Southern California before dawn Sunday morning — the strongest in a series of modest earthquakes to strike near the Ontario International Airport in the last month. Sunday’s 3:51 a.m. earthquake was the fifth of magnitude 3 or higher detected in Ontario since early September, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. “Moderate” shaking was felt in areas closest to the epicenter, the USGS said, as defined by the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. That’s strong enough to awaken many people. “Weak” or “light” shaking may have been felt across a broad region, including the most populous portions of San Bernardino and Riverside counties, large swaths of Los Angeles and Orange counties, and parts of San Diego County. People reported feeling the earthquake from Palmdale to San Diego. The USGS asked people to submit reports of what kind of shaking they may have felt — or didn’t feel — at the agency’s Did You Feel It? website. Until Sunday, the strongest earthquake in the past month to hit San Bernardino County’s fourth most populous city occurred on Sept. 7, when a magnitude 3.9

Does Guy Fieri have a ‘tell’ when he doesn’t love a dish? His superfans seem to think so

(NEXSTAR) – Guy Fieri has sampled thousands of dishes on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” But are all of them as “money” or “killer” as we may have been led to believe? Not so, according to some longtime viewers of the show. Fans on social media seem to think Fieri has a few “tells” when he’s not completely gaga over the grub, with most pointing to the language he uses to describe what he’s eating. “His tell is that he’ll describe each component in detail and doesn’t use his typical ‘out of bounds!’ or other similar catchphrases,” one viewer theorized on Reddit years ago, with dozens of others echoing the same sentiments. “It’s one of those things that if you watch enough ‘DDD’ that eventually you’ll pick up on.” Are you pronouncing ‘Auntie Anne’s’ wrong? “Triple D” superfan Bill Grella, who has dined at 1,000 of the restaurants featured on the show (and counting), subscribes to this theory as well. But he doesn’t believe Fieri would ever showcase a diner, or a dish, that he outright dislikes. “I think that I can tell if he really

Live 49ers updates: Niners face Cardinals at scorching Levi’s Stadium

The 49ers will look to earn their first win over an NFC West division rival this year Sunday as they face Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. Active for the Niners are two All-Pros who were questionable entering Sunday’s game after missing two practices last week: tight end George Kittle (ribs) and linebacker Fred Warner (ankle). Warner missed the second half of last week’s 30-13 win over the Patriots after suffering his injury, and Kittle also picked up his injury in that game. Kittle has already missed one game this season, the 49ers’ loss to the Rams last month, with a hamstring injury. ‘Joker 2’ stumbles at box office amid poor reviews from audiences and critics

By Lindsey Bahr | Associated Press “Joker: Folie à Deux” is the No. 1 movie at the box office, but it might not be destined for a happy ending. In a turn of events that only Arthur Fleck would find funny, the follow-up to Todd Phillips’ 2019 origin story about the Batman villain opened in theaters nationwide this weekend to a muted $40 million, according to studio estimates Sunday, less than half that of its predecessor. The collapse was swift and has many in the industry wondering: How did the highly anticipated sequel to an Oscar-winning, billion-dollar film with the same creative team go wrong? Just three weeks ago, tracking services pegged the movie for a $70 million debut, which would still have been down a fair amount from “Joker’s” record-breaking $96.2 million launch in Oct. 2019. Reviews were mixed out of the Venice Film Festival, where it premiered in competition like the first movie and even got a 12-minute standing ovation. But the homecoming glow was short-lived, and the fragile foundation would crumble in the coming weeks with its Rotten Tomatoes score dropping from

Cal’s gut-wrenching loss to Miami turns up heat on first ACC season

BERKELEY — Cal coach Justin Wilcox called it “a pivotal moment for the team.” Quarterback Fernando Mendoza said the Bears face a fork in the road. What’s next for Cal will be critical after basking in college football’s national spotlight at both ends of Saturday before a fourth-quarter collapse in a 39-38 loss to No. 8 Miami. “What’s the mood?” Wilcox repeated during his midnight news conference. “As bad as you can imagine.” If so, it was appropriate. More than 3,000 wildly enthusiastic Cal fans jammed Memorial Glade in the heart of the campus before dawn Saturday morning to wow the ESPN ‘College GameDay’ crew. Then 52,428 filled Memorial Stadium — Cal’s first sellout against anyone other than Stanford since 2013 against Ohio State when the Strawberry Canyon facility had a capacity of 62,647. “We were very appreciative of all that happened today,” Wilcox said. “The fans were incredible, the student body was incredible.” And for much of the night, Cal answered the call in its first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference home game. The Bears (3-2, 0-2 ACC) led 35-10 midway through the third quarter and

Kelly says Americans need to be educated on election misinformation

By Emily Hung October 6, 2024 / 2:50 PM EDT / CBS News Kelly: “Huge amount of misinformation” on election Sen. Mark Kelly says Americans need to know about “huge amount of misinformation” on election 06:57 Washington — Sen. Mark Kelly said Sunday that the federal government needs to do its part to inform Americans of the vast swath of election misinformation that’s being consumed on social media platforms like X, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram. “It’s up to us, the people who serve in Congress and in the White House to get the information out there, that there is a tremendous amount of misinformation in this election, and it’s not going to stop on Nov.  5,” Kelly said on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan .”  Kelly, who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said he’s seen these misinformation operations target not only his state of Arizona, but also other battleground states. “There is a very reasonable chance I would put it in the 20 to 30% range, that the content you are seeing, the comments you are seeing, are coming from one of those

Nurse, dog die trying to save a man from floods driven by Hurricane Helene

As the Hurricane Helene-driven waters rose around the Nolichucky River in Tennessee, Boone McCrary, his girlfriend and his chocolate lab headed out on his fishing boat to search for a man who was stranded by floodwaters that had leveled his home. But the thick debris in the water jammed the boat’s motor, and without power, it slammed into a bridge support and capsized. McCrary and his dog Moss never made it out of the water alive. The video in the player above is from a previous report. Search teams found McCrary’s boat and his dog’s body two days later, but it took four days to find McCrary, an emergency room nurse whose passion was being on his boat in that river.
