Diddy case: Attorney says 120 accusers allege sexual misconduct against Sean Combs

HOUSTON — An attorney said Tuesday he is representing 120 accusers who have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs, the hip-hop mogul who is awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Houston attorney Tony Buzbee said he expects lawsuits to be filed within the next month. Buzbee described the victims as 60 males and 60 females, and that 25 were minors at the time of the alleged misconduct. Following the news conference in Texas, an attorney for Combs said the performer “cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus.” “That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors,” attorney Erica Wolff said in a statement. “He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.” SEE ALSO: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs indictment explained: Alleged ‘Freak-offs,’ drugs and prostitution Combs, 54, has been locked up at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since pleading not guilty

Pennsylvania town grapples with Trump assassination attempt ahead of his return

BUTLER, Pennsylvania — Donald Trump is going back to Butler, where the world last saw him pump his fist and beseech followers to “fight,” even as blood streaked his face from a would-be assassin’s bullet. The video featured is from a previous report. In announcing his return, the former president and current Republican nominee said he planned to “celebrate a unifying vision for America’s future in an event like the world has never seen before.” The question is: Is Butler ready? While many are predicting a large crowd to hear Trump speak back at the very Farm Show property where a bullet grazed his right ear on July 13, there is also apprehension in town, along with a sense that Butler is still healing. “I’ve consulted with, at least, like 500 people since this has happened,” said registered nurse Shanea Clancy, who runs a mental health consulting service in Butler County and has seen people more anxious since the shooting. Some show signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. “The big theme, if you will, is just, ‘How did something like that happen in our backyard?'” Clancy

DNA found in truck leads to suspect in girl’s 1995 abduction

Tracing family trees to catch killers Inside the genetic genealogy being used to solve crimes 13:49 Almost three decades after a 6-year-old girl was abducted in western Arkansas, modern forensic tests helped identify the suspect in her disappearance, authorities said this week. Morgan Nick was kidnapped from the parking lot of a Little League baseball field in the city of Alma, near the Oklahoma border, on the night of June 9, 1995, according to the Alma Police Department. At the time, detectives received a description of the suspect that alleged he drove a red truck with a white camper shell, which witnesses reported seeing in the area when Morgan vanished. Despite a massive investigation into her abduction that has continued into the present day, Morgan was never found. Law enforcement officers with local, state and federal agencies have since spent thousands of hours pursuing more than 10,000 leads in hopes of solving Morgan’s case, the Alma Police Department said Tuesday. Announcing a “major development” in the ongoing probe, police said the results of DNA testing on evidence gathered from that red truck finally confirmed the suspect’s identity.

Even eggplant skeptics will enjoy this comforting dish

Eggplants are part of the nightshade family. In the 16th century, many Europeans called eggplants “raging apples” because it could either be an aphrodisiac or potentially poisonous — due to it being a fruit from that same family. What a choice to have to make! According to my research, plants in the nightshade family can be medicinal or ornamental; some are spices, some are weeds. The edible nightshades — peppers, tomatoes, eggplants and potatoes — all have alkaloids in them, which can have positive effects on your health. Though there’s some controversy about them causing inflammation, it’s generally thought that the benefits far outweigh any possible side effects. Eggplant is low in fat, has antioxidants, like vitamin C, and polyphenols, which help reduce sugar absorption. So, why isn’t eggplant more popular? From a survey of my friends, most like the flavor of eggplant but either don’t really know how to cook it or only cook it once a year in a ratatouille. I like ratatouille but there’s so much more you can make with eggplant. You can stuff it; stir fry it with peppers, black

Bay Area disability rights activist receives MacArthur fellowship

San Francisco-based writer, editor and disability justice activist Alice Wong was recognized by the MacArthur Foundation this week with one of its prestigious fellowships for her work on increasing representation of people with disabilities. Wong, 50, was born with spinal muscular atrophy, where nerves in the brain and spinal cord break down, causing progressive weakness and atrophy in the muscles. As a disability rights advocate, she uses storytelling across various media platforms to share her own experiences and broadcast other people’s stories to reveal how ableist attitudes, policies and practices marginalize people with disabilities. “The systemic ableism that I and millions of us face every day tells us that we don’t matter, that our lives are too expensive and not worth saving,” Wong said in a video introducing herself as a 2024 MacArthur Fellow. “I want to change the way people think about disability from something one-dimensional and negative to something more complex and nuanced. “There’s such diversity, joy and abundance in the lived disabled experience. We are multitudes.” San Francisco-based writer, editor, and disability justice activist Alice Wong was recognized by the MacArthur Foundation
